A large bookshop carrying books for children and parents. How is it different you say? Well these books break out of the expected binary mold thrust upon children and their parents and talks about the real concerns. The parents in our group definitely plan to visit this shop again and frankly so do I. There's a fascinating array of subjects from social skills development and friendship to ADHD and Bipolar students. Address: 121 Harbord Street, Toronto, ON M5S 1G9

The bright colours of the market are only one aspect of its beauty. This market has been the home of several migrant families from all ethnicities. We saw Chilean, Mexican, Portugese, Indian, Nepalese, Caribbean, Tibetan, Italian, Chinese and Jewish diaspora. Did you know? The market resisted the recession of the 1980s thanks to a floating population of students attending George Brown College, which was situated where the Kensington Lofts are today. Address: 351 College St, Toronto, ON
A store serving authentic Chilean food. Featured here is Humitas Address: 245 Augusta Ave, Toronto, ON M5T 1M5
This store was one of the first stores to spice up the flavors of the market, serving food from a cart, later moving to Nassau St. and then to its current location on Augusta where it now offers indoor and sidewalk seating. Address: 245 Augusta Ave, Toronto, ON M5T 1M5
This distinctive art piece was created in 1997 by artist Stephen Cruise and consists of a thimble, buttons and markings of a tape measure which wraps around the northwest corner of Richmond Street and Spadina Avenue as a tribute to the workers (most immigrants) of the garment factories that were located in the surrounding area who worked in extreme conditions. Address: NorthWest corner of Richmond and Spadina
